Objective To compare the advantages and disadvantages of Sun's ureteroscope and rigid ureteroscope for upper ureteral calculi between 3 and 4 lumbar vertebrae. Methods From January 2014 to October 2016, 96 patients with the upper ureteral calculi between 3 and 4 lumbar vertebrae were divided into control group and observation group (48 cases in each group). The patients in observation group were treated with Sun's ureteroscope and the Patients in control group were treated with rigid ureteroscope. The operative time, stone-free rate, postoperative complication rate, postoperative hospital stay, hospitalization expenses in the two groups were compared. Results The stone-free rate in observation group was better than that in control group (P<0.05). The postoperative hospital stay and hospitalization expenses in observation group were shorter and lower than that in control group (P<0.05). The operative time in observation group is more longer than that in control group (P<0.05). The postoperative complication rates in the two groups weren't different significantly (P>0.05). Conclusion s Sun's ureteroscope has the advantages of safety and less postoperative complications, is a reliable approach for management of upper ureteral calculi between 3 and 4 lumbar vertebrae.
